HK resumes processing of Saskatchewan poultry imports

20-02-2008 | |

Hong Kong’s Centre for Food Safety announces that applications for poultry imports from Saskatchewan, Canada, would resume with immediately.

According to the Centre, processing of applications for importing poultry, game birds, and their products from Saskatchewan will take effect at once.
Processing of applications from Saskatchewan was suspended in September following confirmation of a case involving the highly pathogenic avian influenza H7N3 on a farm in the province.
“In view of the control measures taken by the province of Saskatchewan and the fact that there are no other cases of avian influenza reported, we decide to resume processing of applications from the country,” a CFS spokesman said.
