International Poultry Week started in Atlanta

The International Poultry Scientific Forum and a number of seminars and business meetings marked the start of the international poultry week in Atlanta, USA, last Monday. Poultry producers, scientists and suppliers to the poultry industry from all over the world, are gathering together in the Georgia World Congress Center for the traditional annual International Poultry Exposition (IPE).

Different from previous years, the scheduling of IPE and its side events has changed. The show now runs from Tuesday to Thursday, concurrently with an extensive conference programme. Most likely this will be a good compensation for the absence of about 45 major exhibitors, grouped together as “Showco”. These companies have decided to as one group only participate in a selected number of tradeshows around the world. For IPE they have decided to exhibit only every other year, which will be in 2013 again.

Yet, the total number of exhibitors at IPE 2012 is only slightly less than last year, says IPE organizer US Poultry. New companies, like in feed additives, now participate for the first time. Like in the previous edition, the total number of exhibitors therefore nearly reaches 900 again. As a result, the organizers expect only slightly less visitors than in 2011.

Apart from the show, also a hatchery breeder clinic, sustainability summit, pre harvest food safety conference and an international rendering symposium are taking place during the IPE week. Also the International Feed Expo (IFE) is running concurrently with IPE.
