No end to smuggled poultry products from India

05-06-2008 | |

There is no decrease in the smuggling of birds, chicken, eggs and poultry products into Nepal from neighbouring India, despite suspicion of bird flu spreading in border areas along the Nepal-India border.

Despite the government imposing a complete ban on these products in a bid to prevent the entry of bird flu into the country, eggs and poultry products are continuously being sold. Eggs smuggled into Nepal from India are being sold secretly in the district of Gaur and the rural markets in Shivanagar, Katahariya, Bukul and Rautahat district.
