Vion sells Belgian retail activity

08-11-2006 | |

Dutch meat and food company Vion Food Group sells retail activities in Belgium to the management team of Vion Retail in Belgium.

The reason behind the sale was to put an end to the exploitation of meat departments in Belgian supermarkets.
Up until now Vion took care of meat departments in Flanders and Brussels supermarkets called De Beenhouwers, Vleesmeester and Ikena.
The relationship with one of these partners came to an end in June last year, reducing the amount of meat departments to be taken care of to only 35 – too small for retail activities, VION feels.
The sale will take effect as of January 1st, 2007.
