VIV Asia 2011 to bring opportunities to Indonesia

The Indonesian livestock industry has shown great determination to reduce its dependence on imported meat through a program designed to achieve its meat self-sufficiency by 2014.

The country’s meat production was projected to reach 371,000 t this year, a slight increase from 352,400 t it recorded in 2009. Its poultry market also registered a 4.2% production growth from 2009, primarily due to the public’s demand for a substitute to high-priced beef and pork.

Teerayuth Leelakajornkit, Senior Project Manager, N.C.C. Exhibition Organizer Co., Ltd., (NEO) the organizer of VIV Asia 2011 at the press-conference of VIV Asia 2011 in Jakarta (30/6) said, technology will be very crucial for the success of Indonesia’s growth as well as other livestock industries in Asia.

Thus, for its next edition, VIV Asia 2011 is gunning to be a technological event to serve the safety food chain, starting from the farm to end-users. “From crop production to feed and livestock production and meat processing, we need to ensure that every stage of meat production meet stricter standard on food hygiene.” continued Leelakajornkit.

In addition to being a reliable and effective marketing platform for the Asia-Pacific industries for animal production and processing, VIV Asia 2011 will host Feedtech-Croptech Asia 2011 (FCA 2011). “With this new initiative, VIV Asia is best positioned to bring investors, producers and engineers together who are active in milling equipment and related activities for the production of feed, food and fuel,” added Leelakajornkit.

VIV Asia 2011 will be organized in all 3 halls of Bangkok International Trade and Exhibition Center (BITEC) in Bangkok, Thailand, from 9-11 March 2011. To date, more than 80% of exhibit spaced has been booked.
