The 24th World Poultry Congress (WPC 2012) has obtained a record number of registrations for the Scientific Program of the event.

More than 900 abstracts were submitted for this edition of the congress that will be held on August 5-9, 2012, in the Convention Center of Bahia, in Salvador. According to FACTA’s Marketing Director, Byron Grieco Moreira da Silva, this is unprecedented in the history of the WPC.

“Never before were so many submissions made. This is an important achievement for the organisation, which has made every effort to make the WPC in Brazil a global reference for the industry,” he said. Submission closed on January 31st, and now an expert technical committee will analyse the abstracts to select the 22 studies that will be awarded and presented by their authors during the congress.

Submissions were divided in three categories: Student Program, aimed at under-graduate and graduate students up to 30 years old;Young Scientist, aimed at students that recently obtained their M.Sc. or Ph.D. degrees and are younger than 35; and Scientist Program, focused on researchers that do not fit in the above categories.

The list of the selected abstracts will be published after March 5th at the WPC website. The WPC 2012 is organized by WPSA Brasil (WPSA Brazilian branch) co-organized by FACTA (Apinco Foundation of Poultry Science and Technology) in partnership with Ubabef (Brazilian Association of Poultry Producers).
