The government in the Japanese department Miyazaki culled 190,000 chickens last week due to a new avian influenza outbreak.

This is the seventh outbreak of the poultry disease in the South West of Miyazaki since January 22, 2011 and the tenth outbreak of avian influenza in the whole of Japan.

Transportation of farm material has been banned within a radius of 10 kilometres around the infected farm. Many large egg and poultry meat processors are situated within this radius.
