IPC chooses Santiago for fall meeting

Osler Desouzart, an international marketing consultant from Brazil, and Dr. Paul Aho, poultry economist based in the United States, will headline the upcoming fall meeting of the International Poultry Council (IPC) in Santiago de Chile.

The meeting will be at W hotel, located in the financial district (Las Condes) of Santiago, on 30 September through October 2. The Chilean Poultry Association (APA) is the host organization for the event.

Desouzart and Aho are well known worldwide for their insight into trends affecting the global poultry industry. They will be joined by several notable speakers representing the poultry industries in Latin America.

Members of the respective IPC member countries will also give status updates of the poultry industries in their home countries. In 2008, the OIE granted recognition to the IPC as the official organization representing the world’s poultry meat producers. Under a Memorandum of Understanding signed between the two groups, the OIE will consult with the IPC when developing global animal health and welfare issues.
Earlier this year, the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) signed a memorandum of understanding with the IPC recognizing the organization as the official body representing the global industry. The IPC also has received similar recognition by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. Over 20 countries are represented in the IPC’s membership.

Registration is available on line at the IPC website. For more on the meeting, or for membership inquiries, contact IPC Executive Secretary George Winn at gaw@ellijay.com.
