Rwanda lifts ban on Ugandan poultry

27-03-2008 | | |

Following a ban on poultry products, which has been in place for 2 years, Ugandan poultry farmers can now export their products to the Rwanda market.

“Rwanda has allowed us to start exporting our products provided we liaise with the relevant animal industry department in Kigali,” said the chairman of the Poultry Association of Uganda (PAU) Aga Ssekalala, also the proprietor of Ugachick Poultry Breeders.

Ugandan poultry farmers were doing a lot of business in Rwanda until the outbreak of avian bird flu, which resulted in the banning of the imports and exports of poultry products to curtail further spreading of the disease.
