Spanish company Dalexi Trend together with several companies from Tajikistan have launched a project for the construction of a poultry farm with the total investment cost of 23.8 million somoni (about US$4.7 million), local authorities have recently announced.

The new venture is important for the country as it will increase its food security.

“The entire production line – will be installed by the Spanish specialists. The annual capacity of the plant is 2,800 tonnes of chicken meat. The enterprise in total will employee 70 people,” said the representative of the project, adding that the enterprise will be one of the most modern in Tajikistan and will offer products at low prices.

He also said that the commissioning of the plant is planned in the near future. In Tajikistan, the Spanish company has been attracted by the prospects of preferential taxation. According to the representative of the project, last year Parliament freed several poultry companies from paying taxes on the importation of technological equipment for the production of chicken meat and eggs.

With the preferential tax regime, the country is trying to support poultry producers.
