Ukraine’s increasing egg production
Following a slight recession in early 2012, Ukraine’s egg production is gradually reviving, according to the data recently presented by State Statistics Service (Gosstat).
Gosstat reports that Ukraine’s egg production in the first five months of the year increased by 0.8%, to 7.93 billion eggs.
In March, the production of eggs increased to 1,620.1 million units by 23.7% (or 310.2 million eggs), compared with the level of February of this year.
In individual households the volume of production increase by 64.5% to 599.3 million units, while in the industrial farms it has been produced 1,020.8 million – the increase of 8% compare with February of this year.
Compared with March the previous year, the production of eggs in March 2012 increased by 1.7% or (by 26.4 million units).
In January-March, 2012 compared with January-March, 2011 egg production increased by 0.9% (or 39.7 million units) to 4,276.1 million units.
A slight decrease in the beginning of the year was registered in February. Egg production in that month decreased by 2.7% (36.2 million units), to 1,309.9 million units compared to the level of January of 2012.
In 2011, the Ukraine increased egg production by 9.6% to 18.7 billion units, an increase 9.6% compared to the level of 2010.
It is also worth noting that since the beginning of the year, Gosstat reported declines in production rates for of all meat. During the first four months of 2012 chilled poultry meat production down by 5.6% to 181 thousand tonnes, and the volume of production of frozen poultry meat decreased by 27% to 23 thousand tonnes.
