Dutch poultry processor Plukon Food Group is acquiring Grupo Avícola Hidalgo, with production locations in Madrid, Valladolid and Toledo.

Grupo Avícola Hidalgo, which is fully integrated from hatchery to consumer, is an important player in the Spanish poultry market. The company’s annual turnover is over €100 million and there are over 400 employees.

With this acquisition, Plukon Food Group, which has been in the country since 2020 through its subsidiary VMR Spain, wants to strengthen its position in Spain. Both companies previously had a joint venture focused on convenience products. This company, Iberoelaborados, is now wholly owned by Grupo Avícola Hidalgo. The ‘anti cartel’ authorities still have to approve the acquisition.

Plukon Food Group produces poultry meat, meals, meal components and alternative proteins. It has 38 locations in 7 European countries and has an annual turnover of €3.3 billion with 11,000 employees. In the Netherlands, Plukon has 10 faciltities.
