Turkey house razed in suspicious fire

A poultry house near Willaston, Cheshire, was found alight late last week in a farm fire that authorities believe may have been started deliberately.

The house, which normally has turkeys but was empty at the time of the blaze, caught fire in the early hours of 27 June.

Two fire engines attended from Ellesmere Port, one from nearby Powey Lane and one from Merseyside Fire and Rescue service. Three main jets were used to put out the fire.

Cheshire police have appealed for information if anybody knows who may have started the fire. Anybody with such info should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
