The National Turkey Federation (NTF) President Joel Brandenberger has announced the appointment of Lisa Wallenda Picard, formerly chief of staff at the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS), as NTF's new vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs.
At NTF, she will be responsible for maintaining the federation’s position as a national leader in scientific and regulatory affairs and will serve as the primary resource for NTF members on all regulatory matters.
As NTF’s vice president of scientific and regulatory affairs, Picard will serve as the primary liaison to the federal agencies that regulate turkey production and processing. Her management of NTF’s Technical and Regulatory, Live Production and Turkey Health committees will allow her to facilitate policies for the turkey industry and help guarantee that those regulations are workable and science-based.
“We are pleased to welcome Lisa to the scientific and regulatory team,” Brandenberger said. “Picard’s experience at FSIS and policy work in the areas of food safety make her the right person to lead the federation’s regulatory team to ensure the industry operates under effective, science-based regulations, which are vital to the industry’s future.”
