US aims to test 100,000 wild birds for bird flu
A nationwide survey in the United States is underway to sample between 75,000
and 100,000 wild birds for bird flu - in an US effort to contain the virus
should it arrive in the US.
The majority of samples will be taken in Alaska, which is
the flight-path for many migrating birds travelling between Asia and the US
mainland.
So far several thousand samples have been taken from
migratory in Alaska have tested negative for the deadly virus.
