26 EU member states oppose lifting ban on US chicken

The only EU member state that did not oppose the ban was Great Britain, but all others oppose plans by the European Commission to lift the ban on poultry washed in chlorine.

It is also reported that EU veterinarians favour hygiene controls throughout the hatching and rearing cycle to prevent the development of bacteria, rather than using a chlorine wash as a pathogen-control method.
