Avery Dennison has introduced a new direct thermal
self-adhesive facestock which it claims offers versatility, performance, and
enhanced label aesthetics.
Fasson Thermal Top F8 is aimed at the broad food, logistics, retail and
pharmaceuticals markets for functional barcode labels, and is launched with two
established Fasson adhesives, Fasson S2000N emulsion-based and Fasson S2045 hot
melt adhesives.
Aesthetics and functionality
The facestock itself is, according to Mark Lloyd, Product Manager,
Thermals, Avery Dennison Roll Materials Europe, 'a real advance in terms of both
good looks (not until now a feature of direct thermal labelstocks!) and
exceptional functional qualities. First and foremost, the extra-strength
facestock itself is approved to the German BfR recommendation XXI for direct
contact with dry, non-fatty foodstuffs, as well as US FDA 175.105.
It's highly-resistant to oils, chemicals, heat, and UV light, and is
equally at home in cold temperatures and freezers as in warm bakery
environments.'
Additionally, Fasson Thermal Top F8 also offers significantly improved
whiteness, which gives clear imaging and reliable, fast barcode
readability.
Conversion characteristics
Fasson Thermal Top F8 with Fasson BG40 Brown glassine release liner is also
optimised for the conversion of pre-printed labels on narrow-web presses by the
conventional print processes, and the high-strength facestock enables fast,
accurate diecutting and matrix-stripping.
