US: Zephyr Egg acquired
A Mississippi-based company is acquiring the assets of Zephyr Egg Co.,
which is one of the largest egg producers in Florida and one of the largest
manufacturers in Pasco County.
Cal-Maine Foods, involved in the production, grading, packing and sale of
fresh shell eggs, is purchasing 2 mln hens housed at egg processing plants in
Zephyrhills, as well as the Eggland's Best franchise for South Florida and
Zephyr Egg's interests in American Egg Products Inc.
Other Zephyr Egg assets being bought by Cal-Maine include pullet growing
facilities, a feed mill and a fleet of delivery trucks for both eggs and feed.
It is reported that Cal-Maine expects to close the transaction by the end
of June.
