The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia has lifted the ban from import of poultry and poultry products from Pakistan with immediate effect.

According to the spokesman of the Ministry of Commerce, the Saudi authorities have intimated about the decision on Saturday and now the exporters from Pakistan can export poultry items to Saudi Arabia.

He said that Saudi Arabia had imposed a ban on import of poultry and poultry products from Pakistan after detection of bird flu virus in Pakistan.

The World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE) has declared Pakistan as country free from avian influenza.

Saudi Arabia, however, announced that the products imported should be in accordance with the specified health conditions and technical terms of the Kingdom.
