IPE kicks off in Atlanta

Poultry professionals from around the world gather together again this week for the International Poultry Exposition (IPE) in Atlanta, USA. World Poultry Editor Ad Bal is at the show.

The annual IPE took off on Monday with the International Scientific Forum, which attracted industry researchers and scientists. Items discussed were on nutrition, pathology, environment and management and processing and products. In various presentations strong focus was put on improving product quality. Also growing attention is given to bird welfare.

Over 800 exhibitors are on display at this year’s show. All these are related to poultry production, but they are grouped together for production, processing/packaging and feed, the latter being the group of exhibitors that together form the International Feed Expo which runs concurrently with IPE. Also during the show a wide range of seminars will take place.

In 2009, IPE attracted about 18,000 visitors. The organizers expect a similar attendance for this years show.

IPE runs until Friday 1 pm.
