El Salvador prepares for ALA congress
The 23rd edition of the Latin American poultry congress and show will be held from November 12-15 in El Salvador, the capital of San Salvador in Central America. Theme of this years’ event is “Healthy food and employment for Latin America”.
For the first time in history, the Latin American Poultry Association (ALA) has chosen El Salvador to host their biennial congress. The congress has a tradition of being the meeting place for producers, professionals and researchers of the Latin American poultry industry. The National Association of Poultry Farmers (AVES) in El Salvador is responsible for organising the entire event. Their aim is to show that the Latin American poultry industry is playing a significant role on the global market place and in a global context.
Meeting place
The event will take place in the International Fair and Convention Centre (CIFCO) in the country’s capital San Salvador. Both the congress as well as the tradeshow will be held concurrently under the same roof. The organisers predict an attendance of approximately 2,500 participants from around the world, but mainly from Latin America. Close to 300 companies will be on display at the exhibition, representing all major disciplines like genetics, equipment, nutrition, health and services.
Conference programme
The conference programme will be held during the morning hours of Wednesday 16, Thursday 17 and Friday 18 November. Presentations will be given by international and regional renowned experts. The conferences will have simultaneous translation in English, Spanish and Portuguese. There are parallel sessions in five rooms. The programme will cover topics on breeding and incubation, nutrition, health, egg production, broiler production, broiler processing and food safety. Luis López Portillo, coordinator of the organising committee of the congress states: “We hope when the participants come back home they will be updated, excited and more aware of the challenges that we have as an industry for next years. We are going through many transitions and we trust that this congress will be a productive and rewarding stop along the way. The topics of the conferences will meet with the main challenges of the modern poultry industry.”
