Poultry World is bringing out a special focusing on the topic of Mycotoxins. The special will bring together articles from experts in the field of mycotoxins, researchers and other independent authorities. This special will be distributed at the 14th World Mycotoxin Forum, which will take place in Antwerp, Belgium 9-11 October, even more reason not to miss the opportunity to get your word out there and reserve a space now.

Mycotoxin contamination of animal feed is a topic that remains of great importance, since it can cause serious health issues for animals.

Poultry are susceptible to a wide range of mycotoxins. Mycotoxins are a major threat to meat, eggs, and its derived products, hence it being a major concern for public health.

Ruminants are often thought to be less susceptible to mycotoxins than monogastric animals. While the rumen protects against some contaminants, it does not defend against all mycotoxins. For some mycotoxins, the mycotoxin degradation in the rumen can lead to more toxic metabolites than the parent mycotoxin.

Of all the animal species, pigs are among the most sensitive to the negative impact of unwanted toxins. Mycotoxins have been known to interact with other stressors, leading to subclinical losses in performance, increases in the incidence of disease and reduced reproductive performance. For animal producers, these subclinical losses are often of greater economic importance than losses from acute effects.

Topics will include:

  • Strategies for mycotoxin elimination
  • Effects/damage of mycotoxin in livestock
  • Novel feed ingredients to target mycotoxins
  • How to test: mycotoxin detection methods
  • And much more……

Print, digital and online possibilities

The special will be included with the #7 issue of the regular magazine (print). All the articles will be published online and highlighted in special e-newsletters.
