Butterball and its corporate communications agency of record, Howard, Merrell & Partners, were presented two awards by the Raleigh Public Relations Society (RPRS) during the Sir Walter Raleigh Awards Banquet held recently at the Renaissance Raleigh North Hills Hotel.

The awards recognised Butterball for its 2010 Butterball Holiday Donations news release and its 2010 Fresh Season Millionth Bird events.

“Our goal throughout these campaigns was to strengthen the relationships between Butterball, our plant communities throughout the United States, and our headquarters right here in Garner,” said Rod Brenneman, president and chief executive officer of Butterball. “It’s an honor to receive these awards by such a prestigious group of professionals, and it validates our efforts to emphasise Butterball’s role in producing healthy, wholesome turkeys in our plant communities.”

During the 2010 “Fresh Season” lasting from October through November, Butterball and Howard, Merrell & Partners coordinated celebratory luncheons at the company’s Huntsville and Ozark, Ark. whole bird facilities to acknowledge associates for their tireless commitment, as well as to recognise each facility’s processing of its millionth whole turkey – a feat achieved in only one month’s time. Coinciding with Veteran’s Day, the events also honored a local hero from each plant community who was presented with their local facility’s millionth whole turkey. Through these events, Butterball positively impacted employee morale and established a relationship with members of the plant communities.

Butterball was also recognised for its campaign surrounding the donation of more than 330,000 pounds of turkey to local food banks and charitable organisations located in Butterball’s six plant communities during the 2010 holiday season. Communication efforts reached an audience of more than 2 million, further strengthening the relationship between Butterball and its farming communities as well as reinforcing the company’s commitment to fighting hunger.
