H5N1 bird flu in Switzerland

28-03-2008 | |

Veterinary authorities have announced that H5N1 has been confirmed in a duck on Switzerland’s Sempachersee lake. This is the first case of H5N1 bird flu in the country in two years.

The duck, which is the 33rd case of bird flu in the country, showed no signs of illness, said the Federal Veterinary Office. It is reported that the other 32 discovered cases of bird flu were all reported in early 2006, on Lake Geneva and Lake Constance.
