The owner of Wentscher Poultry Farm near Okahandja (north of Windhoek, Namibia), Gerd Wentscher, was brutally murdered on Tuesday night on his farm.

Unidentified assailants attacked the 47-year-old Wentscher and his wife while they were locking up their premises.

Wentscher was shot in the chest while his wife ran inside the house to get a gun for self-defence but by the time she came out, her husband was already shot.

Wentscher was dead when the police arrived at the scene. According to Chief Inspector Amulungu, the suspects ran away after committing the crime.

The suspects did not take anything and the motive behind the murder is not known.

On the same night, 75-year-old Walfrant Volkmann was also killed at his Farm Jackal Omuramba, in the north of Namibia.

The widow who stayed alone was hacked to death with a panga (machete). She was found by her workers, still alive but died on her way to hospital.

Police are offering a reward of N$40,000 (€ 3,500) for information on each of the murder case.
